How come I keep thinking of Paul, FireFly, PowerBasic and you guys when I'm in "paradise", enjoying 28-30 Â°C on Koh Samui ... It's the first day with stable net, and here I am.

Winter sucks, unless it's a proper one with several meters of snow that stays for a long(er) period. That's not how our winters are, so we bailed and do not regret it. Unfortunately my daughter has started school last year, otherwise we would probably stay here for 5-6 weeks. 8o)

The white beaches reminded me a little of the island of Aruba where I was last year. But the palm trees look different. In Aruba the have more Dividivi trees bent by the tradewinds.

Any wind or clouds are somewhat welcome here. It's so warm and delightful that without it, nothing useful is done. I was so moist from sweat yesterday that I got "electrocuted" by the FireWire connector in front of my portable while it was resting on my stomach.
